THE LITTORAL ZONE
Lorwen (Connie ) Nagle

Throughout the month of August, Kennedy Gallery will present The Littoral Zone, a series of plein air oil paintings by local artist Lorwen “Connie” Nagle. Included in this exhibit are paintings of the coastal shoreline, estuaries and wetlands surrounding the Piscataqua River, Portsmouth , and the Atlantic Ocean.

An artist as well as a psychologist, Lorwen focuses on the interplay of the seen and the unseen within the tidal areas, drawing parallels in her art between that dynamic and the constant interaction between our conscious and unconscious self. “We are , like the shoreline, moment by moment remaking ourselves.”

Please join us for an Opening Reception on Friday, August 2, from 5-8 pm in conjunction with the monthly Art Round Town Gallery Walk.

It has been contended that the difference between science and art is that, when an artist paints, he or she is painting a particular moment in time, and that the process of doing so not only changes the artist, but the artist's world, making it impossible to replicate the result. What changes, it seems, is the artistic vision. In this solo exhibit, come join Elaine L Hughes as she explores this concept, through a series of pairs of paintings of identical scenes. Reception is September 15, 2019 from 1 to 3 pm at the Coast Collective; artist will be in attendance.

1 Feb 2020 - 9 Feb 2020 I'm excited to announce that I will be the 2020 Colab artist with Key City Public Theatre! Andrea K. Lawson Category: Show/Exhibit Venue: Key City Public Theatre, Washington Street, Port Townsend, WA, USA Reception: 1 Jun 2019
The Artist Colab was launched at Key City Public Theatre in 2019. Designed to encourage unique collaborations between artists and art forms, the Colab annually culminates in public presentations at Key City Playhouse. This initiative in is alignment with KCPT’s core value of nurturing new artwork creation by generative artists. The results are performances that transcend form, expanding KCPT’s reach to new audiences and artists. Participation is through invitation by KCPT’s Artistic Director and extended to notable artists from our community whose work is not primarily theatrical, in the sense of telling a specific story via actors. Each invited artist is given a month long residency and is required to identify and include at least one artistic collaborator whose work is in a different art form. The Artist Colab provides valuable resources and opportunity so that individuals may engage in artistic risk taking, explore new methods and mediums, and foster dynamic creativity between collaborators.
